AMIE Exam stands for Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers which is a professional certification provided by Institution of Engineers (India). The qualification certificate of this exam can be earned by passing Section A, Laboratory experiments, Project Work and Section B examination of the Institution. AMIE exam are lead in every June and December. A candidate can appear examination in a center wherever in India or abroad. A candidate is not permitted to appear in more than four subjects at a time. If he fails in a single subject, he can appear the same subject again till he entirely passes that subject. Those who wish to appear for examination should apply in the approved format at the time stated below. If a candidate passes Section A, Laboratory experiments, Project Work and Section B examination, he or she come to be an Associate of the Institution of Engineers (AIE)
Minimum period for clearing both sections is 6 years, however specialists with 3 years polytechnic engineering can complete it in 3 years since they are excused from certain examination papers of Section A. Project work, Laboratory experimentation can be carried out only after clearing at least 5 subjects of Section B.
All members such as (Technician/Senior Technician/Associate etc.) of Institution having legal membership number are eligible for appearing the AMIE 2013-14 examination. If you are waiting for membership after submission of application form, then you cannot apply earlier getting your membership number However, if you have received your membership number and waiting for ID card, you are also qualified for applying. You will need to show the ID card at the examination hall only.
Examination fee is Rs 2000/- for performing in any centers in India and 150 USD outside India. The exam fee is same irrespective of the no. of subjects you appear at a time.
Procedure in Detail
1. Download Exam Form.
2. Get the print out.
3. Draw DD for exam fee. The DD must draw in favour of "The Institution of Engineers (India)" payable at Kolkata.
4. Write your ST/T number and name in the reverse side of DD.
5. Choose your preferred examination center and note down code number of that center.
6. Fill up exam form. Don’t forget to enter correct DD details, various exam related codes
7. Keep a Xerox copy of filled up exam form and DD for future reference.

AMIE exam winter 2013-14 shall be lead at 65 Examination Centers allover India and abroad from December 07, 2013. You can apply for the exam as per the schedule stated below.

Hall tickets or the admit card of AMIE Exam will not be sent to any one's address. Students can download the hall tickets from the official website about one week prior to examination and get the print out of the same. They have to deliver the admit card as well as Membership card at the exam hall entrance.
