Latest News and Important Modification in GATE 2014


GATE 2014 LogoA new paper "Ecology and Evolution" is announced in GATE 2014. Exam for all the 22 papers will be led by an online Computer Based Test. The online exam paper will comprise some queries for which mathematical answers must be keyed in by the applicant using the computer-generated keypad. Rest of the queries shall be of Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) type.

GATE 2014 exam will be held for the duration of forenoon and afternoon periods on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 1st Feb 2014 and 2nd March 2014. Exam for some of the papers in GATE 2014 will be held in numerous periods. Exact details on comprehensive exam plan will be reported at a later date.

Application Process:

For GATE 2014, as in GATE 2013, all material related to the candidates will be accessible in a single GOAPS i.e. GATE Online Application Processing System. Candidates have to register and fill the application via online mode only by retrieving the zonal GATE websites of IISc and any of the seven IITs. The photo and signature of the candidate must be uploaded during the online submission. The submission process becomes complete only when a printout of the filled ONLINE submission with the applicant’s signature and a excellence photograph attached in the suitable place is conventional by the respective Zonal GATE offices along with necessary documents, if any, on or before 10th Oct 2013.

Downloadable Gate 2014 Admit Card:

Admit cards will NOT be sent by e-mail or post, they can ONLY be downloaded from the zonal GATE websites from 1st Jan 2014. The applicant has to bring the published admit card to the test center along with at least one original and valid photo ID. It may be noted that one of the following photo identifications is ONLY allowable: Driving license, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar UID, Employee identification card, College ID or a authenticated affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. The details of this ID proof have to be given while filling the online application.


Numerical Answer Type Questions:

The question paper of GATE 2014 will comprise of questions of both multiple-choice type and mathematical answer type. For multiple choice type questions, applicants have to choose the answer from the given choices. Numerical answer type queries are not multiple-choice type; the applicants have to enter a number as the answer using a virtual keypad.
