GCET 2017 - Application Form, Exam Dates, Syllabus


GCET 2017 - Goa Common Entrance Test is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa. The applicants will find admission in the Government, Government-aided and unaided colleges in Goa. The courses offered will be the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Dentistry, Engineering, Medicine (Allopathic & Homoeopathy), Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences and Nursing. However in this article, the Medical courses will be brought into focus. In the year 1986, the Government of Goa had formed the Directorate of Technical Education to enable new technical educational institutions and courses in Goa.

GCET 2017 is the prerequisite examination for admission into any professional degree courses in the state of Goa. All the notifications related to the admission regarding GCET will be released in the five newspapers of the State of Goa, which are, Navhind Times, Herald, Gomantak (Marathi), Tarun Bharat (Marathi) and Sunaparant (Konkani). The rights regarding these press releases regarding GCET lies with the Director of Technical Education.

GCET 2017 Application Form

The application procedure of GCET can be carried out in the offline mode. One must download the Application Form from the website www.dtegoa.gov.in. It needs to be filled with authentic details and then, submitted. The Application Fee is INR 1500/-. It can be paid via a Demand Draft, addressed to “Director of Technical Education”, payable at Panaji. The documents should be submitted in person at the said Application Reception Centre, which will be in correspondence with the opted centre.

GCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria


  • Indian Nationals are allowed to apply for GCET. However, there are NRI reservations too. The minimum age requirement for applicants applying for Medicine, Dentistry, Homoeopathy Allied Health Sciences and Nursing is 17 years.
  • The applicants must have passed in their 12th grades. Their 10+2 Examinations must have been passed from a Board / University that is accepted as an equivalent to the H.S.S.C. Examination of Goa Board.The subjects studied must have been Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The minimum aggregate scored must have 50% (40% for the applicants applying against SC / ST / OBC quotas and 45% for applicants belonging to PH) in PCB combined.

  • The GCET syllabus matches with that of the Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, Porvorim, 12th grade, Science Stream Examination for the corresponding year.
  • There will be 4 Question Papers on Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Two papers on two days will be held. Every MCQ will have 4 options.
