SET 2016 - Symbiosis Entrance Test Exam Dates | Application Form


SET 2016 stands for Symbiosis Entrance Test. This entrance test is for admission into the undergraduate programs of the institute of Symbiosis. Symbiosis International University has established SET under Section 3 of UGCA 1956 (notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Government of India). The University had three constituents in the year 2002. Ten other institutes of the University were later brought under the domain of Symbiosis International University (notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A). SLS (Pune, Noida and Hyderabad), SSCMS (Pune and Noida), SID, SICSR, SIMC-UG, SSE and SSLA are the institutes of Symbiosis that have incorporated a mandatory written test for its UG programs. SET is not mandatory for SIT, SCON, SIHS and SSP. To know more about Symbiosis SET 2016, its eligibility, important dates and pattern, please read below.

SET 2016 Eligibility Criteria

  • NATIONALITY
Indian citizens are allowed to apply for SYMBIOSIS SET 2016. However, international students require to meet certain criteria.
  1. Foreign National (FN): An eligible applicant for FN is s/he who holds a foreign passport.
  2. Person of Indian Origin (PIO): An eligible applicant for PIO is s/he who holds a PIO card and is a foreign resident to India.
  3. Non Resident Indian (NRI): An eligible applicant for NRI is s/he who has sat for his/her 10th or 12th grade anywhere other than India.
NOTE: It is compulsory for any student who falls in the NRI Category and has appeared for his/her 12th grade in India to write the SET TEST.

  • EDUCATION
SLS - Pune
  1. The applicant should have passed he 12th grade from any recognized Board with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for S.C. /S.T. candidates).
  2. Students who have appeared for their 12th grades and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply, subject to submission of passing certificate at the time of the final admission.
SICSR XII standard examination pass from any stream or equivalent diploma in Engineering / Technology with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC / ST category candidates)
SCMS - Pune
  1. Passed 12th grade in any discipline from any recognized Board/ Council/ University with minimum 50% marks for general (open) category and 45% marks for students of SC and ST category.
  2. Qualifying the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET), Personal Interaction and Written Ability Test (PI-WAT) of their Centre.
SIHS 12th grade passed with any two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology,
Biochemistry, Microbiology, Mathematics OR equivalent as decided by competent authority.
SID
  1. Essential:
An applicant must have passed his/her 12th grade (any stream) or
equivalent OR 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with minimum
50% aggregate marks obtained in the final examination to be eligible for the abovementioned program.
A candidate appearing for the final examination of 12th grade or 10+3 Diploma program may also apply provided the results of the examination should have been declared by June of the admission year or prior to be eligible for the above mentioned program.
  1. Desirable:
The applicant should possess Creative Aptitude & Skills necessary to pursue Design
Education as well as adoptability to the situations, which the profession demands.
NOTE: Candidates with the relevant portfolio would be preferred.
SCON
  1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year of admission.
  2. The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of – Higher Secondary school
certificate Examination (12 years course), OR Senior School certificate Examination (10+2),
OR pre-degree Examination (10+2), OR An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a
recognized board or university with science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with a
minimum of 45% aggregate marks (PCBE).
  1. Further 5% relaxation is permitted to SC/ST students.
  2. Candidates shall be medically fit.
SIT
  1. Indian Students
  • Passed 12th grade with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject · Obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together · Good score in an entrance examination like SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) or JEE-Main conducted in the year 2016 International Students
  1. (Foreign Nationals /Non Resident Indians/PIO) · Passed 12th grade with Physics, Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Technical vocational subject. · Obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in the above subjects taken together. Do not have to appear for entrance exam (SET/JEE-Main) in India. · International students’ eligibility as per SCIE norms.
SLS Noida
  1. The applicant should have passed his/her 12th grade from any government
recognized board with minimum 45% marks (40% for S.C. / S.T. student) in one attempt only (No
Compartment / Supplementary).
  1. An Applicant who has appeared for his/her H.S.C finals and awaiting his/her results are also eligible to apply, subject to submission of passing certificate by the notified date.
  2. Applicants who have obtained 10+2 through Open Universities system directly without having any basic qualification are not eligible for the professional Law Courses.
Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, NOIDA
  1. 12th grade passed with minimum 50 % marks. Students with conditional passing are not eligible for admission.
  2. SET scores are compulsory.
SLS Hyderabad
  1. The applicant should have passed the 12th grade from any recognized Board with minimum 45% marks (40% for S.C. /S.T. candidates).
  2. Applicants who have appeared for their 12th grade final examination and awaiting results are also eligible to apply, only if they submit their passing certificate at the time of the final admission.
SSLA
  1. Students passing the 12th grade from National / State Board and Non Resident Indians (NRI) students appearing for their 12th examinations in India.
  2. SET is mandatory for all applicants, except those who pass the 12th grade from the International Baccalaureate (IB) board.
  3. Foreign Nationals (FN), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) & NRIs must apply through the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE).
  4. Diploma holders of International Baccalaureate (IB): IB Diploma Students with predicted scores may also apply: IB students are exempt for SET since their final exams clash with the
SET exam dates.
  1. 12th grade passed from any branch with minimum 50% marks for the general category and 45% for students of SC and ST category.

SET 2016 Application Form

Applicants who are interested must fill and submit the SET 2016 application form.
The steps for applying for the Symbiosis SET 2016 form are mentioned below:
  • Applicants can apply to an SIU through the SET website(www.set-test.org).
  • They may also apply to the institute from the institute’s website.
  • To apply for admission to an institute, an applicant must register for the relevant SET paper.

  • Applicants applying to SIT, SIHS, SCON with other than SET-2016 score should refer to the respective institute websites and apply.
  • Registration must be for one paper in the morning; viz, Law or Design and one paper in the afternoon session; viz, Engineering, General or Health Sciences.
  • For Engineering and Health Sciences, if an applicant seeks admission based on any other test other than SET, s/he need not register for SET and apply directly to the concerned institute.
  • The applicant needs to upload his/her latest scanned photograph at the time of registration.
  • Follow the instructions for payment of test fee of INR 1500/-on the SET website.
  • Print the admit card and bring it along with a photo identity to the test centre.
  • It will be authenticated during the examination.

SET 2016 Application Fees

  • The fee can be paid through a debit or a credit card or Indian Bank Internet Banking.
  • It can also be paid through cash at the banks: Axis Bank or Indian Bank. Kindly sign the Symbiosis copy of the Payment Slip form stamped by the bank and post it to Symbiosis Test Secretariat, Symbiosis International University, Gram: Lavale, Tal: Mulshi, Dist: Pune – 412115.
  • A DD addressed to “Symbiosis Test Secretariat” is also acceptable. The same signing-and-posting procedure is to be followed.
  • The fee for SET 2016 is INR 1500/-.
  • It is non-refundable, which means that the money cannot be claimed back.

SET 2016 Exam Pattern

  • The duration of the examination is 150 minutes.
  • It is an objective test.
  • SET is conducted in two sessions for 5 question papers. An applicant may apply for one paper from each session.
  • There is a multiple choice of 4 options.

SYMBIOSIS SET 2016 MARKING SCHEME - No negative markings are applied for incorrect answers.
SYMBIOSIS SET 2016 SELECTION MODE - SET is only an entrance examination for SIU (Symbiosis International Institute). Each institute of Symbiosis has selection modes that are independent of each other.

SYMBIOSIS SET 2016 RESULT - The resultsare most likely to be declared in the afternoon. This result will be purely based on merit.After they are declared, the opted institutes by the applicants will conduct the subsequent selection procedures.
